VINTAGE FIFTEEN STRAND MEDITERRANEAN OXBLOOD CORAL NECKLACE

Pat Read was a trader that had Native American shops in Taos, New Mexico and Albuquerque’s old town in the 1950-60 era. On some time line he purchased this fine coral ceremonial necklace and decided to collect it. We suspect he had never encountered one so fine as most corals sold in the Southwest in this era was of secondary quality. The 15 strands adorning this necklace however were top quality natural gem grade oxblood. Like wise the Pueblo jeweler who put it together was affluent and skilled. He made small sterling silver droplets and tubes to randomly insert adding incidentals to enhance the beauty of the piece.
